Northeastern University of Japan developed into a nano-robot that functions to move within cells

The team selected eight peptide microarrays derived from HIV to make microparticles and implanted motility proteins that allowed them to move across the cell surface. The granulating action of the peptide in the particle and the characteristics of the phagocytic substance enable the particle to successfully enter the cell.

At present, in the course of cancer treatment, in order to allow drugs to enter cancer cells, it is necessary to increase the amount of drugs, thereby causing a series of side effects. The successful development of this technology indicates that it is possible to directly transport drugs to cancer cells using nanoparticles. However, further research is needed on how to properly and efficiently introduce the microparticles into the target location.

The research team expects that the results will be used in the development of various nano-particles, nano-microcapsules and high-molecular drugs in the future to promote the breakthrough of cancer treatment and regenerative medicine.
