400KA Large Prebaked Anode Aluminum Reduction Cell Technology Appraisal Through National Scientific and Technological Achievements

The 400KA large-scale prebaked anode aluminum electrolyzer technology has passed the national scientific and technological achievement appraisal in Lanzhou recently. This achievement was jointly completed by China Aluminum International Shenyang Aluminum Magnesium Design Institute and China Aluminum Lanzhou Branch. The project has advanced design and remarkable economic benefits. The overall technology has reached the international advanced level and can be applied at home and abroad.
The 400KA electrolyzer designed by China Aluminum International Shenyang Aluminum Magnesium Design and Research Institute achieved an unprecedented current intensity of 403 KA and an anode current density of 0.82 A/cm2 during the 10 months of operation. The technical indicators were advanced and the test was successful. Compared with the existing electrolytic cell, the electrolytic cell adopting this new technology has the characteristics of low investment, large capacity, and high economic benefit. The annual output of aluminum in a single cell can increase by more than 100 tons, and it is beneficial to increase gas collection efficiency and Improve the environment. Since this technology adopts a full control and standardized operation system of the electrolytic cell, the balance and material balance of the electrolytic cell are effectively controlled, and a set of stable and safe roasting technology suitable for a large electrolytic cell has been developed, forming a set of large electrolyzers. The supporting production and operation management technology has laid a solid foundation for the large-scale modernization of the electrolytic aluminum industry in China and the improvement of international competitiveness.
