According to Wang Ningqi, director of the Wind Power Center of Gansu Provincial Electric Power Company, "At present, wind turbines in China's wind farms generally do not have low-voltage ride-through capability." Equipment companies are reluctant to bear all the costs. A wind farm with an installed capacity of 300,000 kilowatts is calculated at 3 megawatts per wind turbine and the number of fans is 100. If the cost of a low-voltage ride-through for a wind turbine is 500,000 yuan, then The cost of such a wind farm will reach 50 million yuan.

For wind power companies with installed capacity of several million kilowatts, such renovation costs are not a small figure.

Is such a huge transformation cost actually borne by the wind power operator or is it assumed by the equipment manufacturer? This is a very sensitive and important topic for both parties.

According to Zhang Xinbin, if wind power operators and equipment manufacturers sign supply contracts, it is already clear that wind turbines must have low-voltage ride-through capability. However, the fan provided by equipment manufacturers does not have this capability, and this part of wind farms will be transformed. The cost will no doubt be borne by the equipment manufacturer. If the contract signed by both parties does not specify this point, it should be negotiated by both parties to formulate solutions and share the burden.
