Statistical Analysis of Fertilizer Production in China in 2012

It is understood that with the advent of November, the weather has gradually cooled and the country has entered the off-season for the use of fertilizers. In the first half of the year, the market will be dominated by stability and increase, and it will enter the decline channel in the second half of the year. According to statistics, in 2012, China's newly added urea production capacity was at least 5 million tons, with an effective total production capacity of 68 million tons, while domestic demand was only 50 million tons, and the overcapacity was 18 million tons. The impact of excess fertilizer production will generate excess production. Another data show that: in September 2012, China's total production of chemical fertilizer (refine) 6.8 million tons, an increase of 15.39%. In the first three quarters of 2012, the national chemical fertilizer production reached 57.318 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.68%. Among them, nitrogen fertilizer production reached 37.481 million tons, accounting for 65.39% of the country's total fertilizer production; phosphate fertilizer production reached 15.8377 million tons, accounting for 27.63% of the country's total fertilizer production; potassium fertilizer production reached 4 million tons, accounting for the country's total production of 6.98 %.

From the perspective of the output of all provinces and cities, from January to September 2012, the output of chemical fertilizers in Shandong Province reached 10.45 million tons, an increase of 13.43% year-on-year, accounting for 18.24% of the country's total output. Followed by Hubei Province, Guizhou Province and Sichuan Province, they accounted for 16.06%, 6.46% and 6.06% of the total output respectively.

According to the monitoring data, in the first three quarters of 2012, the country's output of nitrogen fertilizer (including N100%) reached 37.481 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.30%. The output of urea reached 22.91 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.70%, accounting for 61.13% of the total nitrogen fertilizer output in the country. In September, China produced 4.237 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer, a year-on-year increase of 13.78%. From the point of view of the output of various provinces and cities, from January to September 2012, the first three provinces and municipalities producing nitrogen fertilizer (including N100%) in China were Shandong Province, Hubei Province, and Henan Province.

The monitoring data shows that in the first three quarters of 2012, the national output of phosphate fertilizer (100% of phosphorus pentoxide) reached 15.8387 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.06%. In September, China produced 9.94 million tons of phosphate fertilizer, an increase of 20.55% over the same period last year. From the perspective of the production of various provinces and cities, from January to September 2012, the output of phosphate fertilizer in Hubei Province reached 4.895 million tons, an increase of 30.27% over the same period of last year, accounting for 30.91% of the country's total output of phosphate fertilizer. Followed by Shandong Province, Guizhou Province and Yunnan Province and other provinces and cities.

Monitoring data show that: In the first three quarters of 2012, the national output of potassium fertilizer (100% potassium oxide) reached 4 million tons, an increase of 6.83% compared with the same period of last year. In September, China produced 568,000 tons of potash fertilizer, an increase of 10.41% over the same period of last year. From the perspective of the output of various provinces and cities, from January to September 2012, the main areas of potash fertilizer production in China are Qinghai Province, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Shandong Province.
