Kyushu University in Japan is developing a new type of power generating wind turbine that can generate electricity efficiently with relatively weak wind power. It is expected to complete development by the fall of 2015 and the price will be below 8 million yen (approximately RMB 400,000).
It is reported that a new type of power generating windmill has a ring mounted around the wing, which can aggregate more wind power than ordinary wind power generating wind turbines, in order to increase power generation to 2.5 times. Because the ring around the wing has a lens-like effect of concentrating sunlight, it is called a "wind-lens windmill."
The wind power windmill also has the advantages of small size (about 3 meters in diameter), low noise, and easy installation. Easily installed in parks, houses, schools, factories, etc., providing lighting power.
The R&D team will conduct verification experiments on the campuses of Kyushu University, etc. After confirming performance and safety, it is expected to be available in the summer of 2016.
