It is understood that vehicle urea is a product that has been developed with the stricter emission regulations for heavy-duty diesel vehicles. With the implementation of the National IV exhaust emission standard, the domestic vehicle urea market has started to start. Many foreign companies, state-owned enterprises, and private enterprises have successively joined the production and sales of vehicle urea. As the quality of vehicle urea products is directly related to the normal operation of vehicle engines, Europe, the United States, Japan and other places have developed complete and mature technologies and application specifications for urea for vehicles. However, China had no national standards for car urea, nor did it have corresponding industry standards. There were only three local standards in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai, and the requirements of these three standards were not uniform. For this reason, the industry urgently needs a unified technology and application specification.

In this context, in September 2011, the China Automotive Engineering Society Fuels and Lubricants Branch held a conference in Nanjing and agreed that Jiangsu Kelansu Automotive Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Tianjin Yuetai Petrochemical Technology Co., Ltd. shall jointly undertake vehicle use. According to the reporter's understanding, this technical specification regulates the relevant technical indicators of vehicle urea and how to use it appropriately. The specifications cover storage, transportation, and use, and specify 18 items such as urea content, density, biuret, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, chromium, nickel, etc., as well as materials for vehicle urea solution storage containers. For example, austenitic alloys, polytetrafluoroethylenes without additives, polyethylenes without additives, and polypropylenes without additives have been provided.

The industry generally believes that the issuance of this specification complies with the trend of heavy-duty diesel vehicles in implementing the four emission regulations and regulates the production standards of the automotive urea solution market in a timely manner. It is scientific, forward-looking, and applicable. This standard also provides feasibility guidance for vehicle urea solution supply, quality supervision, and corporate inspection.

However, the relevant person in charge of the China Automotive Engineering Society told the reporter that the "Urea Technical Specifications for Vehicle Urine" is not mandatory. This specification is based on the fact that the urea solution for vehicles does not yet have national standards, and that the urea industry has just started and the market share is still not high, and a unified technical standard has been formed by maximizing the convergence of differences. According to the reporter’s understanding, according to the requirements of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the National Standard for Vehicle Urea Solutions is being drafted.
