Carbon nano "shell armor" makes the battery more durable

A few days ago, Liaoning Province, Dalian Institute of Chemicals, fuel cell catalyst precious metal alternative research has been a breakthrough. The team led by Baoshen and academicians recently creatively put carbon nano-layers on the metal iron nano-catalysts, which greatly improved the stability and anti-intoxication ability of iron-based catalysts in fuel cells, making it a non-precious metal catalyst for the future. The Dalian Institute of Technology's technique simply puts a pair of metal iron nanoparticles that are easy to “hit” and wears a “shell armor” made of carbon nanotubes. The active electrons of iron atoms are like the hands of soldiers. However, it is possible to freely move outside the “shell armor” to complete the reduction reaction of the catalytic oxygen molecules, thereby realizing the stable operation of the fuel cell in the acidic environment and significantly improving the anti-poisoning ability of the fuel cell in actual operation. The relevant research results of this technology have been selected as an important progress by the German Applied Chemistry, and have been awarded as highlights by the C&EN news of the American Chemical Society.
