However, due to the high viscosity of crude oil in the reservoir and the rapid heat dissipation of the thin reservoir, the ultra-heavy oil in the thin reservoir has been difficult to be effectively used.

During the application of this technology only in Chunfeng Oilfield in the Junggar Basin, Xinjiang, the country's first full-scale deployment of shallow and thin reservoir ultra-heavy oil reserves was 41.97 million tons, and a thin reservoir ultra-heavy crude oil production base was built.
