Wire and cable types and characteristics

Wire and cable are used to transmit electrical (magnetic) energy, information, and wire products that convert electromagnetic energy. Broadly defined wire and cable are also referred to simply as cables. A narrow sense cable is an insulated cable. It can be defined as an assembly consisting of: : One or more insulated wire cores, and their respective coating layers, total maintenance layers and outer sheaths. Cables may also have additional uninsulated conductors.

There are many kinds of wires and cables, and there are different classification methods according to their different characteristics. If the utility, structure, and manufacturing process of an integrated commodity are similar, and combined with the characteristics of use, it can be divided into five categories: bare wire, electromagnetic wire, power cable, wire and cable for electrical equipment, and communication wire and cable.

1. Electromagnetism wire: It is the coil or winding that is used for electrical machinery, electrical apparatus and electrical instrument, the electric wire that has finished the conversion of electromagnetic energy, also call winding wire. According to the materials used in the insulation layer, structure, heat level and use, can be divided into enameled wire, wrapped wire, inorganic insulated magnet wire, special electromagnetic wire four categories.

1 Enameled wire: It is a film made by applying insulating paint on the conductive core and dried to form an insulating layer. Ordinary enameled wire can be divided into acetal, polyester, polyurethane, epoxy, polyesterimide, oil enameled wire, etc., special enameled wire has self-adhesive straight enameled wire, self-adhesive enameled wire, anti-refrigerant enameled wire and so on.

4 Special magnetic wire: It is an electromagnetic wire with insulation structure and characteristics suitable for use in special places, such as medium and high frequency winding wires, polyethylene insulated nylon sheathed submersible motor windings and so on.

2. Bare wires: Wires that are not insulated are called bare wires, also called bare conductors. It is the most basic large category of goods in wire and cable products. According to the shape of the product and its different uses, it can be divided into four series: round single wire, overhead twisted wire, soft wire and profile.

1 round single wire: also known as round wire, is a single round wire. From the material, there are single metal wire, round aluminum wire, round copper alloy wire, aluminum alloy wire, double metal wire, copper clad steel wire and aluminum clad steel wire. 2 overhead wire: It is a bare wire that is twisted or chiseled by multiple round wires or profiles. Naked wires can be made with larger cross-section wires to transmit larger currents, and are relatively soft and reliable, and are commonly used in various transmission and distribution lines with voltages of 380 V to 330 kV and above. The main varieties are aluminum stranded wire, steel-cored aluminum stranded wire, aluminum alloy stranded wire, steel core aluminum alloy stranded wire, aluminum clad steel stranded wire, steel core aluminum clad steel stranded wire, expanded diameter steel aluminum stranded wire and hard copper stranded wire Wait.
