Sabic wants to enter the polyurethane business

The SABIC president, Mr. Mardi, said at a press conference at the plastics fair in Düsseldorf that Sabour will soon complete a technology licensing agreement to produce polyurethane products and formally enter the polyurethane business. The business is implemented by its High Performance Chemicals Business Unit and is a key step for SABIC to diversify its downstream products.

****·Madi said that the construction of a polyurethane product system will improve SABIC's engineering plastic product line. At present, the world's three major polyurethane producers include Bayer, BASF and Dow Chemical. Each company strictly adheres to its own production technology and does not authorize it, except for joint ventures. SABIC's authorization may take the form of a joint venture. The SABIC PU project will be the second such device in Saudi Arabia. Previously, Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical have announced that they will build a large-scale polyurethane petrochemical project.
