Synthetic resin is a leading sub-sector in the petrochemical industry. If it is deeply connected with downstream demand, there will be much room for development in the future. In order to break through the application bottleneck, the synthetic resin industry seeks breakthroughs from the downstream, and cooperates with downstream industries such as automobiles and drinking water pipe networks to carry out joint research. This is the information that the China Chemical Industry News reporter learned from the fourth meeting of the China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association, which was held on April 24th in Bohai New District, Hebei Province.

According to Zhao Jungui, vice president and secretary general of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and chairman of the China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association, the synthetic resin industry has maintained a good growth trend in recent years. From January to February this year, special products including synthetic resins. The main business income of the chemical industry increased by 6.3% year-on-year, and the investment growth rate was 12.4%, both of which were among the top three in the petrochemical industry. From January to February, the output of synthetic resin was 115.49 million tons, and the apparent consumption was 15.41 million tons. The import volume of high-grade synthetic resin materials in China has increased rapidly, which indicates that there is still much room for development in the synthetic resin industry.

Participants generally believed that efforts to meet high-end and emerging demand are the breakthroughs for the further development of the synthetic resin industry. Zheng Wei, Secretary-General of China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association, said that the conference invited the Automotive Lightweight Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance to participate for the first time, aiming to clarify the needs of the downstream automotive industry and combine the actual conditions of synthetic resin enterprises to produce lightweight materials that better match the needs of automobiles. .

According to Yang Jie, deputy secretary-general of the China Society of Automotive Engineering, the average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers of passenger cars in China has become stricter. Lightweight vehicles are an important means of reducing fuel consumption, and lightweight materials are the most convenient to implement. However, there are several thorny problems in this respect. First, the production of automobile supporting materials is small, and there is not enough funds to support its R&D capability. Second, the company lacks professional basic data and does not form good data accumulation and precipitation. Product development, design and verification capabilities are slower to improve; third, it is not fully capable of simultaneous development with automotive companies, and can not effectively carry out development activities such as pre-design intervention.

Zheng Yi and Yang Jie suggested that the two sides jointly organize industry technical experts to identify key technologies, organize industry resources to jointly tackle problems, establish industry basic databases, and establish regional cooperation technology models for automotive resin materials companies, parts companies and automobile companies. Long-term resin development planning and implementation of technical routes, etc., comprehensively promote the participation of synthetic resin companies in the automotive lightweighting process.

Wang Xujiang, chairman of the unsaturated resin branch of the China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association, said that the main use of unsaturated resin downstream is FRP resin, which is widely used, but currently the high-end products on the market are mainly based on foreign-funded enterprises. In addition, the current demand for unsaturated resins in drinking water projects and agricultural water reforms is increasing, and relevant enterprises should actively meet the needs in this regard.

More than 100 representatives from the directors of the Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association attended the meeting.

Industry perspective

Improve materials to meet downstream needs as quickly as possible

Zheng Wei, Secretary General of China Synthetic Resin Supply and Marketing Association: Synthetic resin plays an important role in many fields such as electrical, transportation, mechanical instrumentation, aerospace, defense and military, medical and health, building materials, information industry, energy conservation and environmental protection. In 2014, China's synthetic resin output was 69.5 million tons, up 10.3% over the previous year; apparent consumption was 96.51 million tons, up 13%; imports were 32.15 million tons, and imports accounted for about 1/3 of consumption. This shows that there is still a big gap in demand, especially for high-end products.

Huang Jiezhi, Managing Director of Zhejiang Juner New Materials Co., Ltd.: At present, domestic composite materials, especially engineering plastics, are still used less in terms of supporting vehicles. In international competition, domestic materials companies lack opportunities. In order to better meet the downstream demand, for the modified enterprises, on the one hand, it is necessary to strengthen basic research and obtain material basic data; on the other hand, it is necessary to strengthen applied research. It is hoped that the Automotive Engineering Society and the Synthetic Resin Association and related enterprises can establish corresponding alliances, focus on several key areas, and drive domestic material enterprises to rapidly improve the application research level, so that relevant materials can enter the automotive lightweight industrial chain as soon as possible.

Jiang Dingjun, chief engineer of Nanjing Julong Technology Co., Ltd.: Internationally modified plastics have been used in automobiles, but there is a disconnect between domestic materials factories and automobile factories. Relying on industry organizations to solve common problems is critical. Automobile accessory materials enterprises should also be transformed from simple manufacturing enterprises to service enterprises and to innovative enterprises. To build the basic database.

Wang Keqiang, general manager of Changshu Southeast Plastics Co., Ltd.: I am very concerned about the application of phenolic resin to automotive systems. Many parts of foreign cars have used phenolic resins. For example, pulleys need to be heat-resistant and wear-resistant. Now they are made of metal. In order to be lighter, phenolic resin can be used. In addition, an intake pipe, an exhaust pipe, a cooling system, a brake component, and the like are available. It is hoped that the upstream and downstream cooperation will directly promote the phenolic resin for the needs of automobiles and realize systematic large-scale application.

Chen Weiguo, Chairman of Shandong Luyan Masterbatch Co., Ltd.: The current automotive industry requires plastic parts to be environmentally friendly and odorless, which puts higher requirements on the matching masterbatch. For example, our new unsupported universal black masterbatch is odorless, contains no heavy metals, has a small amount of added, and has good dispersibility, which is suitable for current auto parts requirements. In the next step, related additives and masterbatch enterprises should respond to downstream demand, improve research and development of new products, and achieve good support.
