Recently, a friend asked me how much hard disk space I need to use for network camera recording. I don’t know most of the people who are targeting this problem. The following is a brief introduction to the Pacific Security Network.
How much hard disk space does the network camera use in a day?
The hard disk space required for video recording is related not only to the video compression standard, image format and frame rate used by the camera, but also to the human flow in the live environment. The image changes quickly and the code stream is inevitably large. Therefore, usually, the user can calculate based on the code stream on the camera. Calculated as follows:
Storage space = time X code rate / 8 (one byte 8 words)
If the camera's code rate is 300Kbfs, that is, 300Kb per second, the hourly video file size = 3600 (one hour is 3600 seconds) * 300 / 8 = 135000KB or 135M per hour, calculated. According to experience, H.264, D1 video surveillance, real-time video recording at 25 frames per second. Most environments do not exceed 200M per hour.
